Reducing Girls in the Adult Entertainment Sectors in Kathmandu and Pokhara Nepal
The project, "Reducing Girls in the Adult Entertainment Sector in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal," is a yearlong initiative running from September 12, 2023, to September 11, 2024. Supported by UNICEF and implemented by a consortium led by SAATHI in collaboration with Biswas Nepal in Kathmandu and CWES in Pokhara, this project focuses on reducing the involvement of girls in the Adult Entertainment Sector in these cities. The initiative seeks to empower girls through life skills training to enhance their problem-solving abilities and entrepreneurial potential, vocational training to provide sustainable economic opportunities, and education support to facilitate school enrollment and social reintegration. Additionally, the project includes outreach activities and coordination meetings with federal government agencies and the private sector to strengthen policy and legal frameworks addressing both preventive and responsive measures. By fostering empowerment and creating alternatives, this initiative aims to build a supportive environment for the girls’ long-term growth and development.
