The Hamro Samman project, implemented by Biswas Nepal in partnership with Winrock International, has been working since 2020 to advocate for the rights of workers in the Entertainment Sector (ES) in Nepal. Its core aim is to create a safer, more dignified working environment for these workers and reduce their vulnerability to Trafficking in Persons (TIP). This project is supported by USAID and UKAID and focuses on the complex challenges of human trafficking in Nepal, where the country serves as a source, transit, and destination point for various forms of trafficking, including labor, sex, and organ trafficking. Hamro Samman utilizes a 5Ps approach—Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, Policy, and Partnership—to combat trafficking. Through this approach, the project engages a wide array of stakeholders to build multidisciplinary solutions to human trafficking issues. To address these issues, BISWAS Nepal, in partnership with Tdh Foundation and in collaboration with Kathmandu Metropolitan City, is implementing the Prayatna Project. This initiative aims to prevent child exploitation, promote gender justice, and protect the rights of vulnerable workers in the entertainment, hospitality sector LGBTQIA+ (Queer community). The project focuses on child and youth-led initiatives, integrated support services, and advocacy for better labor rights and policies. By strengthening local governance and data management systems, Prayatna seeks to create a safer, fairer, and more inclusive working environment in Kathmandu.
